The Daily Fix in the ATX: Mr. Brown's Last Reggae Wednesday at Flamingo Cantina

Diedrich Jones of Mr. Brown

Tonight is the last night reggae band Mr. Brown will perform at Reggae Wednesdays. I hope the hump-day tradition continues with another solid band. I enjoy listening to the reggae, rock, and hip hop at Flamingo Cantina, and for 15+ years the club has proven to be my favorite club on 6th Street. (The Parish is a close second.) But don't be sad about this last performance at the Cantina. Mr. Brown will be performing around Austin in the near future, and I hope to catch one of these shows so I can ask them if their name is indeed inspired by the Bob Marley song. Just another trite interview question...Also: Dance to the afro-beat music of Rattletree. White musicians performing music inspired by traditional African music never sounded so good. Music is indeed a universal language. You can hear the universal band every Sunday at the rear entrance of Barton Springs from 4-6:00 pm.
